MYSTERY.
So much of life I have found to be a mystery. Seeking to understand why tragic things happen the way they do. The truly unfathomable complexity of creation. The ability for Lucifer to possess selfish desires in heaven. When physical and medical complications aren't present, why does a Mother’s precious baby die during childbirth? The unexplainable concept of grace. The unfathomably complex “understanding” of free will. Miracles. Cosmic forces. Sharing the belief that there has to be something more to life than the conflict between what we are told to believe and what our experience is telling us is the way it is. Most people search for the meaning of life from a personal doctrine based in fear. It is obvious there is a spiritual essence to all of life, but no two people experience it the same. How is it that five people can describe their personal spiritual journey to me and by comparison, each of their stories has little in common with any of the others regarding how God worked or what sparked their initial moment of spiritual transformation? Of course, the ultimate concern of what is our purpose in this life.

Personally, I have wrestled with a variety of answers only to find God at the core of all of life’s blessings, sufferings, complications, turns, turmoils, joys, and unexplainable mystery. I believe in a mysterious, unexplainable God that is sovereign and knows us completely (from our sufferings and evil deeds to our laughter and what makes us feel whole) who can be trusted to make all things new. My life is evident of this transformation, and I have seen it present in others. I want to be part of that transformation and God has tugged on my heart enough to create in me a passion to surrender my heart, time and talents to be involved in activities and environments where I can effectively thrive at helping people discover, understand, embrace and desire a spiritually transforming relationship with God.

Since April of 2008, I have been serving on the Pastoral Resources team of Woodcrest Chapel in Columbia, Missouri. What keeps me most busy is serving as a Men’s Ministry Director and working closely with a team of 5 others in (amazing, huh?) creating and managing environments addressing the spiritual needs of our church family. Additionally, I'm one of several people responsible for putting together two communion services a month and the coordinator of our church’s intensive educational environments called Crash Courses.

My wife and I have been passionately serving married couples through something we call MadeOne since 1997. I love the challenge of helping couples heal hurting marriages and leading conferences, workshops or seminars focused on preventing problems and being proactive at building and maintaining a strong, healthy marriage

I also do some writing for Chritian-based educational material, literature and theology as well. I’ve been on a hiatus for what I think has been two years, but hope to do some more writing for our Light in the Dark site before 2008 comes to an end. Of course, I rarely turn down the opportunity to preach or teach in almost any environment. But, after reviewing this site, do you honestly believe I could find the time? Contact me if you do and tell me what you think.

I try my best to live with the intention that I might be the hands and feet of this mystery.
